Workstation Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows Operating System (Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows7 required)
  • Internet Explorer version 7.0, 8.0 or 9.0 with JavaScript and cookies enabled (compatibility mode required for IE9)
  • 1024x768 or greater resolution required
  • Internet connection minimum speed of 256K required; high-speed broadband connection recommended
  • Display driver settings: 32-bit color; Font set to "Medium"
  • Flash Player 9 or greater required for animated "splash" screen to play upon opening of BVS CBT course

Additional requirements for multimedia and video-based courses:

  • Windows Media Player 9 or greater
  • Sound card and speakers
  • Internet connection minimum speed of 512K
  • P4 1.6 GHz processor; 1 GB of RAM
  • Microsoft Silverlight (3.0+ recommended) for video playback in Dynamic Learning courses

Additional requirements for Computer and Business Skills Courses

  • Adobe Flash 8.0 or higher (Flash 10.0 recommended for MindLeaders®)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or higher
  • MindLeaders — Internet Explorer 7.0 or 8.0 (PC only)
  • SkillSoft — Mozilla® Firefox® 2.0 - 3.5.2 (PC); Safari™ 3.0 - 4.0 (Mac)
  • SkillSoft — Sun JRE — Version 1.3.1 or greater with Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 6 and greater
  • LawRoom — Mozilla Firefox 1.5 - 3.0 (PC); Safari 1.2 - 4.0 (Mac)
  • Pop-up blockers should be set to allow the following sites:

  • *.bvsinc.com
  • *.mindleaders.com
  • *.skillport.com

Additional workstation requirements for e-Meetings

  • If Meeting and Seminar Internet voice system will be used, a sound card, speakers and microphone are required

SCORM Import/Export

  • SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 Package Interchange Formats are supported. BVS is not responsible for third-party content.

Proxy/Firewall settings

  • If using a proxy server, do not cache the BVS website.
  • Standard Internet access that allows HTTP and Secure Socket Layer (HTTPS) connections is required.
  • To view video courses, firewall and/or content-filtering solutions need to allow the following application types:
  • Audio/x-ms-wmv
  • Video/x-ms-wmv
  • Pop-up blockers should be disabled or configured to allow any sites ending with bvsinc.com.

Security/Encryption capability

  • At the subscribing institution's discretion, 128-bit SSL encryption security may be enabled or disabled to encrypt:
  • Sign-on information and employee ID information when it is being transmitted.
  • e-Meeting content as it is transmitted.
  • Information as it is transmitted for publishing in the e-Documents, e-Library and e-Bulletins Communications Tools.
  • BVS courses and custom courses within the BVS system.

Regulatory Requirements

  • Current FFIEC guidance requires institutions to review technology service providers' SAS70 Report as part of vendor selection due diligence. BVS has a SAS70 Type II audit performed on an annual basis, and a report is available upon request.
